Tales from the Town of Mildred

The Cornfield Monster

Just as I’d reached the age where I’d stopped believing in ghosts, vampires, zombies, and whatever was hiding under my bed at night, my friends showed up at my doorstep telling me they’d just seen the Cornfield Monster!

Naturally, I wanted to see it for myself.

That Halloween, my friends and I staked out the same cornfield where they’d seen the monster before, hoping it would reappear so I could get a glimpse of this local legend.

What happened next will scare the pants off you, as it did to us back in the day in my secluded little town of Mildred, USA.

Meet the Author

Clem Younger

Clem Younger remembers what life was like growing up in a much simpler time… which really wasn’t that long ago.

We’re talking about that magical time known as the 1970s and 1980s, an era that is already starting to become its own kind of mythology.

That’s what Clem writes about: reminiscences of childhood, when the world had fewer defined edges and seemed a lot bigger.

His first book, The Cornfield Monster, is based on a real-life urban legend from his hometown, which he has transmuted into the fictional town of Mildred, somewhere in the Midwest.

The Cornfield Monster perfectly captures the carefree wonderment of childhood in the ’70s, bottling it for those who remember those days and giving those who didn’t grow up in that magical era a taste of what they missed.

And it won’t be his last.

Expect an entire series of stories from Clem’s fictionalized hometown of Mildred, coming from Whitley Terrace in the future.
